SSL offloading relieves a server from the processing burden of encrypting and decrypting traffic sent via SSL or TLS.
The processing is offloaded to a separate device specially designed to efficiently process encryption and decryption.
This way, the number of connections a server can handle greatly increases.
We ported the famous SSL library wolfSSL to multi core OCTEON to process the SSL layer. wolfSSL teaming up with Sirius and OCTEON hardware encryption engine, enables the servers located behind the SSL Offloader to handle tens of thousands of connections instead of several hundred ones. A whitepaper on modifying wolfSSL so it can run on OCTEON can be found in our whitepaper section.
